Since Shure launched its new professional UHF-R system at the PLASA Show in September 2005, its features have hit the right chords with leading sound professionals such as Gearhouse Broadcasting, the company rumoured to have supplied audio equipment to The X Factor TV show. Dennis Harburn, managing director of Shure UK states: "The use of our pro audio products at special live televised events is always a source of great pride for us. The new UHF-R wireless system and the Beta microphone series were designed with live performance in mind. The system is sensitive to the finest detail, as well as demanding, live and raucous environments like The X Factor. It is our 80-years of commitment to the business of sensible design and rigorous engineering science that have made us market leaders in microphone technology."
Key features of the UHF-R system include its failsafe set up frequency, which the company says resolves the problems that often occur when working with multiple microphones in a live setting. The upgraded track tune filtering system now offers increased channel selectivity, thereby avoiding the risk of both interference and bandwidth incompatibility. An added bonus is that the unit's broad programming window allows for use in both the UK and the rest of Europe. Audio reference companding ensures the most natural sound possible across a broad range of both vocal and instrumental sounds, say Shure.
