Brogaard has worked with Donny Osmond before, back in the 70s when the Osmonds were a force in world pop music. Today, the set list is the same, but the underwear that lands on the stage is much larger and the equipment set-up is much more sophisticated. In the bigger arenas, Brogaard uses a combination system: X-Line for the front, and XLC cabinets for the sides. "But I felt sure that the XLC alone would handle arenas up to 6,000 provided we had enough sub-bass," says Brogaard. "So in the smaller theatres, we only used XLC; the main system was 10 XLC 127+ per side, with five XLC 118 subs and five extra Xsubs a side. It sounded absolutely wonderful."
For the larger shows, such as the M.E.N. Arena, the high output and extended low frequency response of the X-Line system was brought into play. From his Digico D5 Live digital front-of-house console, Brogaard controlled a system comprising 12 E-V Xvls and two Xvlts per array each side of the stage. There are four Xfil2 downfills on each side of the stage, plus a further eight XLCs to handle the seating areas behind the front-of-house arrays. "This configuration was also fantastic sounding," says Brogaard; "when you use X-Line and XLC together, you can't hear that you're going from one source to the other, they complement each other very well."
