SIEL will also take a look at safety responsibilities in the nightlife industry. The French government is currently reinforcing safety measures intended to make people in France more aware of safety, particularly when it comes to getting behind the wheel of a car. In view of the number of road accidents caused by drunk drivers, the French government believes that those working in the nightlife industry today have a moral duty to save their customers' lives, as well as take measures to avoid administrative closings.
Conscious of just how important an issue prevention is for those in the nightlife industry, SIEL has decided to devote a high profile place to it this year.
The UMIH (Union des Métiers et des Industries de l'Hôtellerie), representing those working in the hotels, restaurants, cafés and discotheques of France, has willingly joined forces with SIEL to increase awareness among trade professionals. A number of companies and associations will meet up on the UMIH stand, transformed into a 'Prevention Centre', presenting simple but effective solutions. The issue of prevention concerns 6,300 bars, 3,500 discothèques and 175 casinos today in France. SIEL will be the opportunity for these establishments to anticipate and develop the methods best suited to offering their clientele a complete service.
