EML's Patrick Demoustier.
Europe - Belgian rental firm EML is touring Europe with Simple Minds, using an assortment of Adamson's Y-Axis and SpekTrix line arrays to accommodate the needs of each individual venue. The Scots band, with over 20 top 20 hits to their name and over 30 million records sold, is performing in over 40 venues across Europe to promote their new, critically acclaimed studio album Black & White 050505.

The UK leg of the tour saw Adamson partner Concert Sound based in Luton, providing all sound reinforcement products. When the tour makes the rounds to Belgium and Holland, EML will use a mixture of Y-18s and Y-10s provided by EML Belgium and EML Holland respectively. In Scandinavia and Germany, Nordic Rentals, Adamson support for Denmark, Sweden and Norway, will pitch in some Y-18s for the local shows. Livesound B-AG from Bern, is supplying Simple Minds with product for the Switzerland dates, MPM will supply the France dates and another Adamson partner is expected to join the tour for the Italian dates.

The European leg of the tour kicked off in Dublin on 30 January and will run until 16 April in Greece, when Simple Minds is off on a brief stint in Asia and Australia. The tour returns to Europe on 1 June and runs to 8 August, then continues on to North America shortly after.

Patrick Demoustier, EML's chief engineer and Simple Minds' FOH engineer, says: "Due to their directive character, line arrays must be set up correctly to achieve their maximum potential." Comparing them to F1 cars, he states: "You can drive them very hard but there is no room for error." This is why Demoustier says he insists on using Adamson Shooter - the company's proprietary software for array design - for each venue, as it allows him to achieve the maximum potential line arrays.
