Sebastian Song first encountered d&b audiotechnik's audio 'systems' in 1998: "I had started to see a rising demand for joined up thinking in Pro Audio," he explains. "The business needs systems solutions. Demand here is evenly split between high quality installations for theatres and concert halls, and a rapidly growing rental market based on the emerging pop scene that is sweeping across the whole East Asian region. The design philosophy of d&b that resulted in natural sound, compatibility, scalability and plug 'n' play systems, made d&b systems an ideal choice to address these markets."
Thanks to the passion and commitment of Sebastian Song, the Esplanade has had d&b systems installed since it opened in 2002; now the Asian Beat competition, organized by Yamaha Asia in Singapore featuring local talent competing for a place in the Finals to be held at the Zouk Club in Singapore, is availing itself of d&b's new line array, the Q-Series. "This is not like other line arrays", says Song. "Typically d&b; it's scalable from a single loudspeaker right through to a multiple-cabinet line array. It is truly controllable right down to the lower frequencies, and is remarkably small and lightweight. Asian Beat is a premier event for our region of the world, and the competitors are getting to perform with a premier PA system. The winner will receive the largest share of $30,000 worth of prizes as well as representing Singapore in Taipei at the Asian Grand Final."
