"We chose the D5 Live for its intuitive and simple operation and good features," says Skan PA Hire director Chris Fitch. "We also liked the fact that it was a British product, and had confidence in the DiGiCo sales and support team."
According to Fitch, the decision to invest in a digital console was informed by its customers while reflecting the company's desire to stay ahead of the competition. "We feel that investing in a digital console is an important step forward for a rental company like us which specialises in live events and touring," he says. "It's two-thirds the size and less than half the weight of a similar specification analogue console, and the build quality is excellent."
The console, which arrived at Skan's Reading premises in February, will receive its debut on the Sugababes UK tour in March. The company anticipates that it will be used for a wide range of applications throughout the year including tours, one-off shows and orchestral work. "The desk is suited to all types of live work and therefore fulfils our requirements of having flexible equipment," says Fitch.
James Gordon, DiGiCo's director of sales, comments: "We are proud to welcome Skan into the ever-growing D5 Live family. Their investment is the latest proof that the D5 Live is helping to make the choice between analogue and digital an a obvious one."
