Skan were asked to supply systems to cover all aspects of the two-day event, which included a central stage, for all 400 attendees to watch fashion shows and hear from key speakers. While six further systems were spread around the venue in break out areas. Brand experience company Hotcakes provided all creative work and production management for the event.
Skan supplied a mixed system, including Turbosound TQ440 self-powered full-range loudspeakers, together with JBL C25s for the main conference room. Various other Turbosound systems and proprietary speakers were utilized around the six zones. Control was provided by Midas Venice 160 and Yamaha 03D mixing consoles, while Shure radio systems were in use with DPA 4060 and 4066 miniature microphones.
Marks & Spencer also turned to Skan this month for an installation in their new ‘View From’ sportswear department, at the flagship Marble Arch store in London, currently going through major refurbishment. Skan chose the Tannoy IP5 flat panel loudspeakers, installing 10 units into the ceiling covering an area of approximately 250sq.m. The Tannoy speakers were chosen for their ease of installation, simply dropping into a standard 600mm suspended ceiling grid and for their wide dispersion characteristics. Skan's relationship with Marks & Spencer has gone from strength to strength over the past 18 months, working alongside Hotcakes to stage dozens of in-store fashion shows around the UK.
Skan's business activities have expanded and developed considerably over the past year, resulting in a mezzanine level being added to their hire facilities this month, giving them one-third more storage space. Abby Llewellyn, director of Skan PA Hire, comments: "Even though this is one of the busiest seasons in the company's history, we had to find the time to brief and accommodate the building contractors. The extra space will really make a difference to the quantity of jobs we can now prep at any one time."
