The manufacturer's territorial distributors, KLS Studio, repurposed a powerful club rig from Llubljana-based venue, Inbox, after it went into demise and was taken back by the leasing company. Now the redesigned system has given the 2,500-capacity Ambasada Gavioli - which specialises in techno and house from its origins in electronica - a new lease of life.
KSL managing director, Bostjan Konic, confirmed that his company was asked to service, design and reinstall the system for owner Becic Edis - a devotee of Martin Audio's signature sound and the impact it produces at venues like the Ministry of Sound in London.
There are some notable similarities. For the Slovenian nightclub - named after its architect Gianni Gavioli - now boasts eight ASX sub woofer enclosures (containing a passive 21" driver), eight AS118 Hybrid folded horn/reflex loaded bass systems, purpose designed to be used with the AM Stadium horn. Here it has been matched with eight AM 404 extended range, large format full range systems and three AM604P delays. The system is driven by a pair each of Martin Audio's powerful MA18K and MA12K amplifiers.
With its huge cult following, Ambasada Gavioli is acknowledged as one of the best nightclubs in Europe, and the highly recognisable Martin audio dance brand should certainly find favour with top international touring DJ's, for whom this venue is a regular haunt.
"This really is the best combination of speakers and amps," says Konic, "and the XTA processor controlling the system brings the best out of it. The owner is delighted with the high impact we have created for him."
