Germany - The first major outing for satis&fy's new Nexo STM modular line array system was the Rock'n'Heim rock festival at the Hockenheimring motorsports racetrack. It was an opportunity to demonstrate STM's sound quality and coverage to a 27,000-strong crowd watching a diverse line-up on the Revolution stage, including Outkast, DeadMau5, Jan Delay, Die Fantastischen Vier, Pretty Lights, Die Antwoord and Parov Stelar Band.

satis&fy worked closely with Nexo to design the system, which required maximum cardioid sub efficiency to minimise spill to the second stage. It also needed to provide even coverage while controlling spill outside of the audience area.

The site itself came with a number of challenges for the team. The truss wasn't designed to support a flown sub system, and, because of video and photography sight lines, the subs could only be groundstacked 2-high.

UK - This year's globally-renowned Creamfields dance festival featured an EDM first in the form of TiMax dynamic 3D audio spatialisation for duo Axwell & Ingrosso's blockbuster set, dubbed "360" in reference to the encircling array of moving lights and the club-style surround PA system that enveloped the crowd.

Originally two-thirds of the legendary Swedish House Mafia, A&I have a massive following, which on Sunday night at Creamfields were spilling out of the vast tented stage at 10 rows deep.

A new arena to Creamfields, Departures was inspired by the A&I Ibiza club night born only last summer. The duo was joined in the 10-thousand capacity tent by acts such as Alesso, Dirty South, Deep Dish and Otto Knows.

The 360 production was specified by A&I's sound engineer Wayne Rabbit Sargeant who also handles shows for Aviici. Rabbit designed an eight-channel surround sys

USA - Keeping one of summer's biggest festival weekends running with flawless wireless across eight stages in the middle of downtown Chicago is not a job for the faint of heart.

For the second straight year, C3 Presents, organizer of Lollapalooza, hired Frequency Coordination Group (FCG) to coordinate wireless throughout the three-day festival in Grant Park. Since its founding by RF specialist Brooks Schroeder in early 2013, FCG has earned a solid reputation for successfully managing the mission-critical wireless needs of some of the most challenging installations and events.

"For a big outdoor festival, especially in a place like downtown Chicago, wireless can get out of control in a hurry. That can turn any show into a disaster," says Brandon Sossamon, C3 production manager for Lollapalooza. "We consider having Brooks and Frequency Coordination Group on site t

USA - Grammy Award winning American singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne has taken to the road this autumn with his Supernova tour, which runs until mid November, climaxing with three dates at New York's Beacon Theatre. Front of House engineer Jon Lemon and monitor engineer Ed Ehrbar are taking advantage of the stellar power of DiGiCo SD10s throughout.

Jon has long been an advocate of DiGiCo consoles. In fact, he was one of the very first to use a D5 Live when the company launched in 2002. His faith in its products has never waned and both he and DiGiCo have benefitted from their long-standing relationship.

"I haven't really mixed on any other console since the D5 Live became available," he says. "I think DiGiCo boards in general have a really good almost analog sound, and the company has been extremely receptive to suggestions from engineers like me, which in turn

London-based rental company Capital Sound once again provided the audio infrastructure for the event, deploying their expanding network of Optocore X6R-FX interfaces to provide a fully redundant loop; this encompassed the ten delay positions as well as the VIP platform and covered veranda, all distributed from the FOH rack presided over by experienced system tech Toby Donovan.

The Optocore racks have been a frequent visitor to Hyde Park this summer, having been deployed earlier at the Barclaycard British Summer Time Festival.

They introduced the Harbour Arena, boasting idyllic views across the water to the bay of Pula on the Istrian coast, and doubled the capacity, as drum and bass, dubstep and reggae acts / DJs performed against the background of other makeshift stages, created within this abandoned 160-year-old Fort at Punta Christo. As soon as we heard the new MJF-210, we knew that our search was over and that it was time to invest. From what I've heard from other Meyer-related sources around we're not the only ones to recognise the potential of this product either, but we're very pleased to put these amazing new monitors into our rental inventory," says Sound Workshops MD, Tony Brighton.

Among the many concert reviewers impressed by how well Sheeran's one-man show translated in a large arena, Katie Atkinson of Billboard writes, "He had the crowd wrapped around his finger, and the booming sound to pack an arena with just an acoustic guitar and his voice."

Chris Marsh, Sheeran's production manager and FOH engineer, says: "I've had a chance to hear Ed's music on a lot of different systems, for various festivals, one-off shows, and opening for acts like Taylor Swift. UK - Deaf and hard of hearing audiences are about to experience, for the first time, a new display technology called Invisible Subtitles which relies on similar technology used in 3D stereoscopic systems. A row of specially developed, High Definition, 43-inch monitors, to the side of the stage, appear dark grey to the general audience. Viewers who wish to see captions throughout the show simply wear lightweight glasses, which look like 3D glasses.

Inventor, Jack Ezra says, "A great deal of work went into developing our LCD panel, backlight and software and future versions will allow a live or recorded person to be displayed doing sign-language. What audiences experience are clear captions or the signer in full colour, stretched across the display while the rest of the audience see nothing but a dark grey screen."
