Chromasonic's features include three simultaneous audio effects, comprising two-tap Delay, 5-band parametric equaliser, compressor, limiter, noise gate, tremolo, chorus, flanger, phaser, reverb, autopanner, wah-wah (manual, envelope, LFO with tempo sync) and 4-voice pitch shifter. Additional features include the Tempo Sync (external MIDI or internal with auto detect) for all time-based effects, with tap-tempo control an enhanced saving and storing mechanism with reset/compare/name copy.
With Comprehensive MIDI automation and bulk dumps through Chromasonic 1.1 the Chameleon now competes with any other dedicated multi-effects unit in its price range, according to Soundart. So, as the soundskins and updates continue to roll out, the Chameleon's revolutionary concept becomes more and more a force to be reckoned with in the hardware synths and processing market.
The Chameleon houses, in a 1U rack, the same powerful Motorola DSP processing power as found in many top-name brands of audio hardware, along with 2 x 24bit I/O A/D D/A converters and MIDI I/O.
Low-level Soundart code allows it to effectively function as a "blank canvas" for talented developers to use how they please. End-users load soundskins like Chromasonic via MIDI and the Chameleon instantly becomes a completely different tool. Chromasonic 1.1 is available, on the web site, as a free download for Chameleon users.
