Source is making the exclusive world-wide launch and first public display of RØDE's new RØDE Link Digital Wireless System, NTG4 and NTG4+ shotgun microphones and the NTR ribbon microphone.
The RØDE Link Wireless system utilises 2.4GHz technology to provide a high-resolution 24-bit/44.1kHz digital audio signal at a range of up to 100 metres. The system consists of a number of receiver and transmitter options, and will be available in a number of kits targeting film, news gathering, presentation and stage use. The first kit to be available will be the Filmmaker Kit, which consists of a beltpack transmitter, an on-camera or beltpack receiver and RØDE's broadcast quality Lavalier microphone.
The NTG4 and NTG4+ shotgun microphones feature an all-new capsule design that delivers lower noise and higher sensitivity, with on-board digital switching providing control of the mic's 75Hz high pass filter, 10dB pad and high frequency boost controls. Additionally, the NTG4+ comes equipped with an internal rechargeable lithium battery, providing up to 150 hours of operating time - and which can be recharged via any USB power source.
Lastly from R°DE, the NTR ribbon mic is built around a precision 1.8 micron fine aluminium ribbon element, completely de-coupled from the microphone body to give the greatest possible transparency and minimum resonance. The ribbon element feeds a high gain, low noise output transformer that will happily feed a wide range of preamps without the need for excessive gain.
Also making their UK debut at BVE are the Genelec 8300 family of Smart Active Monitors (SAM) - specifically the 8320, 8330 and 8351 models, and the associated 7350 subwoofer. All SAM models cleverly marry DSP hardware and software to automatically optimise and align themselves for relative levels, time of flight, subwoofer crossover phase as well as individual room response compensations - resulting in accurate, neutral imaging and low distortion, whatever the acoustic shortcomings of the room.
Completing the Source booth line-up is the PreSonus RM-series of compact, recallable rack mounting digital mixers - controlled and driven by PreSonus' own UC Surface software for Mac, Windows and iOS.
