SARA raised the necessary sponsorship from MMINO, a South Africa-Norwegian education and music program, to enable young South Africans to spend the 29 June to 13 July 2004 period in Norway. There they will spend an intense 15 days gaining technical training from some of the best in the world, learning the latest methods and techniques in sound, staging, power, lighting and related live music/entertainment industries.
Every year the Board and organizers of the Quart Festival choose one deserving socially responsible role player on a global basis, and designates it as the recipient of the Festival Charity Fund Raising drive (an annual effort). The highlight of SARA's visit to this year's Quart Festival, Norway's biggest annual music festival, is that SARA has been chosen to receive all funds raised from this year's fund-raising campaign during the Festival. The Award, much needed and appreciated by SARA, specifies that the funding is to be utilized both for SARA and for the restoration of SARA's new headquarters, SARA House at 55 Goch Street, Newtown Cultural Precinct, Johannesburg.
The Festival, which is held in Kristiansand annually (this year 6-10 July), has three outdoor rock venues, one indoor rock stage, and six dance venues at local clubs, attracting visitors from all over Europe.
The four are Jeffrey Riyandane (22) from Giyani (Limpopo), Millicent Mosimanyane (23) from Rustenburg (North West), Katlego Mokgojwa (24) from Lehurutshe (North West) and Noludwe Ngcukana (26) from Butterworth (Eastern Cape). Each has earned their place on the exchange by excelling in SARA's local training programs.
