The Conference will bring together professionals from the Creative and Cultural industries from all over the UK, to discuss how to work better in collaboration with young people and education, and explore the real return on investment in skills, and what impact this is having on the sector. John Hayes MP (Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning) will be the keynote speaker, and he will be joined by some of the most influential figures from the creative and cultural sector such as Paul Latham (COO, International Live Nation Entertainment and Chair of the UK's Creative & Cultural Skills), Dr Rory Perret (chief executive, Backstage Academy) and Jason Carter (event director, Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra London 2012).
The visit will provide an opportunity for SARA personnel to meet with the officials and members of the UK's NSA Creative & Cultural Skills, to have discussions about training and skills development collaboration, and to further discuss the already proposed programmes including their scoping visit to South Africa and possible exchange programmes between the countries.
The visit will also provide an opportunity for SARA to visit and tour the Backstage Academy and have further discussions about their unique Foundation Degree in Live Events Production, and to address the need to have this qualification registered on the South African NQF or develop a similar qualification.
Freddie Nyathela will also travel to London to attend the 24th International Live Music Conference (ILMC) which takes place at the Royal Garden Hotel from the 8-11 March 2012. He will also attend the ILMC International Production Meeting, with discussions focusing on four distinct issues that are facing the industry: Structures, Safety and the Weather, International Touring, Local Issues, Education, and Working outside our Sphere & Conclusions.
