Wayne Sproule of Pendragon Dezign was the production designer. Sproule had a spec from the client that gold was to be the main theme, and got the recipe just right: his glamorous set worked exceptionally well as a canvas for colour washes from Nic Michaletos' lighting design.
The services of MGG Productions were called in to provide the intelligent lighting, with MGG's Kevin Rieck hands-on as the lighting programmer on a grandMA. It was the first time Rieck had worked in a theatre production of this calibre. "It was a great responsibility and I was as scared as hell!" he said. "Nic Michaletos is my mentor, I learnt a lot from him on this show. He created colours I didn't even think of combining, new looks and it's always great to see someone else's point of view."
Nic Michaletos commented: "Yes, it's actually the crocodile club, but we've got the mix and they're honeys to work with." He adds, "I always get a thrill doing what I do. If I didn't, I'd be catching fish. The lighting design for this show was very straightforward. What he [Sproule] gave me was a bit of a gift - it didn't take any head-banging to design the show."
The lighting rig included 12 Robe Robin 600 LED Wash fixtures; 20 Robe Cityskape 48s; 20 LED Force 7s; 14 Robe ColorSpot 700 EATs; 12 Robe ColorWash 700 EATs; 35 ETC Source Four Zooms and 115 PAR 64s. Control was from a grandMA full-size console.
Wayne Sproule commented: "Congratulations to all involved. The team are like a family. Nic and MGG Productions were the new additions and to the team and the venue, thank you, it was a pleasure to work with you all."
