Rob's background spans concert touring and corporate events, having started as a system tech with bands such as Boyzone, Westlife, Busted, McFly, and Coldplay. His career progressed into the role of monitor engineer for a number of artists including The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Emilie Sande, Matt Redman and The White Lies. He has worked with companies such as MCM Productions and First Network in corporate events and was a regular face on the Top Gear Live and Gadget Show Live Shows.
"Like most people that visit the headquarters, when I walked through the door I thought 'Wow! This is a lot bigger than I realised'," says Collett of his new employer. "There are over 190 staff working in various teams from projects, to sales and hire, but it's when you see the sheer scale of the hire warehouse and the range of equipment that you really appreciate how sophisticated the whole operation is."
He continues, "Initially, my role was to evaluate the audio equipment offered and identify opportunities to invest in new technology. That included making sure the equipment was of a standard appropriate to our client base. We are a state-of-the-art, modern operation, so we need to be sure that we invest in new products that people want to use.
"My current focus is on developing new hire opportunities, I have already begun a process of introducing myself to existing clients and developing business by introducing new clients to Stage Electrics. The audio hire offering is truly impressive and I am excited by the challenge of developing it further."
