The designers took over the roof garden and turned it into a crystal island complete with 12m x 4m boating lake dyed green to promote a Truvia new calorie free sweetener. This is only the second time that the garden has been opened up to the public since World War II when the store suffered serious damage due to bombings. The Truvia Voyage of Discovery experience included a gushing waterfall, 12 rowing boats, lifeguard, cocktails and a tropical soundscape all which were situated 6 storeys above one of London's busiest shopping streets.
Bompas and Parr turned to specialist technical integrators Stage Electrics to supply and install an audio and visual enhancement for this monumental event. Stage Electrics London Branch, based near London Bridge, supplied outdoor lighting and audio for the main areas which included the lake in Crystal Island, the bar area and garden area to enhance the event created on the roof.
To create the ideal ambience for the event, Bompas and Parr engaged composer and producer Dom James who created the perfect background music using sounds from Iguazu Falls, one of the great natural wonders of the world situated in South America. Bar Music was a tribal score featuring evocative instruments such as the ocean drum, berimbau, congas and wood flute. The mixed background music which was appropriately and specifically chosen for different zones at the event was distributed discreetly throughout the installation supplied by Stage Electrics.
"Stage Electrics London branch were very attentive to our needs and provided a quick response and the sound system designed and supplied by them really brought composer Dom James' tropical soundscape to life," commented Parr.
