At each port of call throughout the voyage, including Falmouth, the record breaking yachtswoman presented to a packed audience stories of her voyages and experiences, and raised awareness of the importance of the Ellen MacArthur Trust. The ticket sales from these presentations went towards the trust's fundraising.
At the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Stage Electrics supported the event by providing projection equipment, staging, audio solutions including radio microphones and playback for Dame Ellen's talk. Stage Electrics also supplied the use of one of their vans and half-day training in their Bristol warehouse for the organisers, so they could set up the technical equipment on site independently.
Falmouth proved to be a special stop, as it was the location where Ellen MacArthur set sail from and returned after her epic round the world trip in 2005. The National Maritime Museum was also the only venue on the trip which booked her for two nights due to popular demand.
Ellen MacArthur comments: "I've known and worked with Stage Electrics for a long time. They supplied all the AV equipment for the homecoming celebrations when I sailed back into Falmouth after my round-the-world record campaign in 2005, and so when we came back to Falmouth for The Ellen MacArthur Trust Skandia Round Britain Voyage in 2009, they were the obvious people to turn to. We wanted to stage an event in Falmouth that would raise as much money as possible for the Trust, and the support and creative solutions given by Stage Electrics really helped us do this."
