Taking place for the second time, the Weltenbauer.Awards will be presented at Stage|Set|Scenery on 20 June 2017. With this industry award Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft e.V. (DTHG) honours innovative and original stage technology solutions that have helped to realise the artistic concept of a theatre or show production in a particularly impressive manner. Any theatre, musical, show, TV or event production which has developed or made use of stage technology solutions can enter the Weltenbauer Awards. Applications must be submitted no later than 28 February 2017.
Applications are also invited for the Weltenbauer Youngsters.Awards, which are being presented by Messe Berlin and DTHG for the first time. The deadline here is also 28 February 2017. One hundred and fifty years ago the opera Roméo et Juliette was first performed by Charles Gounod on 27 April 1867. It is with that event in mind that an assignment will be given to the contestants.
Trainees, students (ranging from schools to vocational and higher education) from any country specialising in the theatre, films and event technology are invited to submit their designs and works on the subject of 'Romeo and Juliet'. These may be individual or team works focusing on stage design, the theatre stage, costumes, decoration, set design, make-up, lighting concepts, videos or audio installations. The 10 best works will be exhibited on a special display area in Hall 23 and the entrants will have an opportunity to present them at the Anatomical Theatre on 21 June 2017 at the show.
