Jane Russen and Pete Holdich pick up the prize
UK - Star Events won Best Brand Activation at the Festival Supplier Awards (FSA) last week for its Samsung Hypercube structure.
Conceived by Samsung, developed by Iris Worldwide and built almost entirely from Star parts, Hypercube housed the first immersive virtual reality (VR) music video, which toured festival sites last summer.
Presenting the award, judges highlighted the combination of ‘solid production values and high end technology’, which they said, ‘delivered a unique solution’.
Sarah Howlett, Star Events’ project manager, comments, “The Samsung Hypercube took a telling new dimension into the festival model and the structure had to emphasise that novelty and provide a seamless platform for the VR. Star’s engineering prowess, and its resources, helped that happen and it’s great to be recognised with the Best Brand Activation award.”
“By collaborating with Star we have been able to design an impressive festival experience that is not only aesthetically beautiful but structurally sound and completely safe,” a spokesperson for Iris Worldwide said at the time. “We would not have trusted any other production team to produce a structure of this scale.”
