The demos work exactly like the full version software for 30 days from installation, but rather than having to wait for and install from a CD, you can download the application of your choice from the website in just a few minutes. According to Stardraw marketing director Rob Robinson explains: "This is a logical step that offers clear advantages, the age of software distribution by physical media is coming to an end. For applications like ours that see almost daily updates, CDs are effectively obsolete as soon as they roll off the production line. With Internet distribution, our customers can get the software they want immediately, rather than having to wait for a CD to turn up in the post. Secondly, they'll know they are getting the very latest version of the application, which is all they wanted in the first place. Not only does everybody win, but its another way of offering our customers what they want, how they want it, when they want it."
Stardraw A/V Lite -launched at the recent ISE exhibition in Geneva - offers all of the drawing and design tools of its more heavyweight sibling, Stardraw A/V, for less than half the price. Stardraw CEO David Snipp explains: "Stardraw A/V is undoubtedly the most popular off-the-shelf product we do, however, at $2,500 US, it represents a significant investment which may be beyond the reach of the smaller contractor. Stardraw A/V Lite allows people to design schematics, rack layouts and sales presentations. Furthermore, users with a current subscription are entitled to free symbols updates, free program upgrades and free priority technical support. According to Robinson: "Stardraw A/V Lite represents superb value for the smaller contractor. The fact that you can produce exactly the same drawings and designs as the full application is fantastic."
