Philip Parsons: “The new site will allow us to keep pace with demand”
UK - Steeldeck, platforms, staging and seating solutions manufacturer, has secured a new London production facility (see LSi May for more).
The new facility is located on the outskirts of London in Erith and will provide over 2300m2 of space, doubling the capacity of the company’s previous base in Bermondsey.
Steeldeck has historically been based in central London, but remaining in the heart of the capital had become irrelevant since the separation of the company’s rental and manufacturing arms.
Philip Parsons, Steeldeck CEO, comments: “The old premises were very conveniently located near our rental business in London’s Bermondsey, and to various suppliers such as the powder coater, but the area has changed. Factories have been demolished wholesale to be replaced by towering blocks of flats, parking is becoming increasing limited, the street access for lorries has been reduced drastically by street narrowing and the rents are rising very sharply.
“Moving from our present railway arch-based accommodation to relatively modern industrial premises will permit proper workflow. The new site has a substantial private yard as well as excellent access to transport links, all of which will allow us to keep pace with demand and to better provide the service our customers expect from us.”
The new production hub is being equipped with a rationalised production process that will provide the required increase in capacity, says Steeldeck.
