Comprising two 2-way stand or pole mountable cabinets, in either 12 inch or 15 inch LF driver models, the Starlight sound and light stage system combines 250 watt self powered FOH reinforcement and a 50 watt powered side mounted monitor driver within each cabinet. Each cabinet features a rear panel mounted 2-channel mixer with 3-band EQ, and an external source monitor input and level control. Each cabinet also incorporates a recessed side slot housing six high-power LEDs with dispersion lenses. The in-built lighting controller features 13 programs, including seven static colours, fade to colour change, sound to light; brightness and speed are also adjustable.
The Starlight cabinets are supplied as matched pairs, with the LEDs and monitors angled inward towards the performers' stage position. The monitor speakers are conveniently positioned at ear height to provide directional monitoring to the performers without the need for excessive volume. With the cabinets mounted on speaker stands or poles, the vertical LED strips evenly project a colour wash across the stage.
Commenting on the new product development, Soundking Group Europe marketing manager Patrick Almond states, "As the company that effectively invented small scale semi-professional and professional integrated sound reinforcement solutions for performing musicians back in the early 1970s, this is something of a natural progression for the Studiomaster product portfolio, providing a highly integrated off the shelf live performance package."
On the specification side, both mixer inputs feature balanced XLR mic inputs and a ¼ inch jack line input and unbalanced RCA/phono line inputs, for Channel 1 and 2 respectively; the ¼ inch jack monitor input has dedicated level control and 18 dB/octave high-pass filter for the custom 4 inch sealed driver. The lighting controller has the 13 program selector, brightness and speed control, and level control for sound to light.
