The Sussex Academy of Music, based on the south coast, provides music tuition of all instruments and courses to all age groups. Midas ProSound has been working with teaching staff to design a digital audio control system that is suitable for use in the 'live' room, and for future shows outside the Academy. The core of the system uses a RSS M-400 V-Mixer with a S-1608 Digital Snake.
"Having lectured in sound between 1990 and 2002, it's extremely gratifying to be involved once again in an academic environment, this time as a systems supplier," says Nicholson. "Today's digital technology certainly gives the student more scope to be creative both musically and technically, and it's great to see a company like Roland at the forefront of the digital revolution by offering brilliant solutions to the Audio and Education worlds."
The installation at the Sussex Academy is a work in progress. Nicholson has recommended the deployment of RSS Sonar software for PC-based recording and archiving, and also plans to set up Digital Snake links to the Academy's six practice rooms.
Ben Stringer, MD of the Sussex Academy of Music, is delighted with the advice, the results and the support. "Paul Nicholson has given us a great tutorial on using the Roland M-400 V-Mixer, and has promised to be our direct contact for future audio software and hardware. We have just run a festival using the desk and we rate it incredibly highly. Paul provided us with Midas ProSound and Roland merchandise that set the main stage off perfectly. The entire experience with Roland and Midas ProSound has been enjoyable, professional and I expect a very good future relationship between our three companies."
