Event Sound supplied the audio for the four event zones choosing to use JBL speakers with VRX 932LAP being their main box of choice. Other boxes used as distributed systems and entertainment stage monitors included JBL SRX700 series and JBL Eon510 speakers.
The Start Site at North Sydney has proved to be quite challenging in the past with a focused concentration of sound required for the three-zoned start areas without infringing too much on the residential buildings.
"Fortunately with the VRX system we were able to accomplish a directional system providing great clarity and throw across the areas that we needed to cover," stated Keith Clarkson, managing director of Event Sound. "We used Shure UHF-R radio microphone systems with active antennas across all event areas and this proved an exceptional choice for the start line especially with the announcer microphones ending up over 200m away from the control system."
The finish site this year was at the Sydney Opera House forecourt, expanded from previous years to include more audience coverage and again JBL VRX provided the sound.
"With JBL SRX running MP3 instructional systems in the Royal Botanic Gardens leading to the Recovery Village, everyone found their way to the entertainment stage which was running JBL VRX boxes with Eon stage monitors and more JBL SRX boxes providing distributed audio throughout the recovery village," added Klarkson.
All systems used Shure UHF-R radios and were all controlled by Soundcraft mixers including Compact 4 / EPM8's and GB4.
