In the course of a dank afternoon, against a tearing crosswind, the system was tested with a variety of program material, ranging from classical through to heavy rock and spoken word and, says Synergy Audio's Rob Quin, "The results were quite staggering. Even in the strong winds, the system produced a very even sound field, across a large area, with very little noticeable drop in level or quality.
"It's extraordinarily good. The people behind the design have worked with some of the "big names" in line array, so it has a good design pedigree. We've been inside the boxes and the components are very good quality. The build of the cabinet is first rate and the attention to detail is brilliant. We didn't pick the best test conditions by a long shot, but it did give us a good idea of how the system will perform on some of our outdoor summer concerts!"
The Axiom system used by Synergy consists of 16 x AX3210P Vertical Curvilinear Array modules (VeCAM) and eight x EDGE121SP 21" subwoofers. The system is driven by the Proel DSO26 digital processor system and is powered by 20 x Proel PSW2600 switching power supply amplifiers, connected with Proel's new HPC1604BK 16 x 4mm multicore speaker cables.
This cable, incidentally, is another Proel product - the first multicore cable designed specifically for powered audio signals, allowing the power signal to be carried with the minimum power loss, even over long distances.
