Celebrating 80 years in business this year, Tannoy presented their latest products to feature their renowned Dual Concentric drive unit. Since its invention six decades ago, the Scottish-based loudspeaker manufacturer's point source drive unit technology has been constantly refined. The latest incarnation of the 'Dual', a miniature 4" version, is used in the highly versatile and flexible 'eyeball' enclosure of the new CMS 401DC ceiling speaker; a system with a clever swivel mounting enabling sound to be precisely targeted. Rather than refer to it by its model number, the 'eyeball' name seems to have already been embraced by Tannoy's customers and the new speaker certainly caught the imagination of the local installers, architects, interior designers and consultants on the tour.
There was interest too, surrounding the new additions to the V-Series range; Power V and VNet, two new products from Tannoy. Tobias Schulte, sales manager for Tannoy Deutschland, described the award winning VNet range as the Leatherman of the audio world, "just like a Leatherman has a knife, screwdriver, gripper, scissors all in one package, VNet has the amp, EQ, delay filter and more - all the tools you need in one box!"
With registrations doubling year on year, attendance figures and quality of attendees was superb. So impressed with what they saw, many installers committed themselves by placing orders for their up-coming projects at each stop of the tour, the company reports.
Tannoy Deutschland's sales and marketing manager, Matthias Exner says: "The road show concept has grown year on year, with 2006 being the most successful yet!" He added, "Being able to meet with so many influential new contacts and get involved with their live projects is just fantastic. Attendees get in depth information from five different manufacturers from various market segments: Microphones/conference systems from Shure, media control systems from Crestron, 100V evacuation paging from Simax and loudspeakers to presentation screens & projection from Tannoy and Panasonic. The tour concept works well for both visitors and manufacturers with a far greater focus and attention than at any trade show!"
