The Clarion also boasts some of the most impressive conference facilities in the country with over 1600sq.m of dedicated floor space across several meeting rooms, handling up to 1200 conference visitors each day. A crucial part of its technical specification was the audio installation, which would be required to facilitate effective multimedia presentations and deliver loudness and clarity in both speech and music. To meet these needs, the specifiers opted for Tannoy's range of premium in-ceiling and surface-mount loudspeakers designed specifically with the corporate AV market in mind.
Specified and installed by Norway's leading sound and lighting installers, AVAB CAC - who have a local office in Bergen - as well as Oslo and Lillehammer, Tannoy products serve five large conference rooms as well as the elevator lobbies, reception area and the hotel's piano bar.
Over 100 CMS501 DC Pi in-ceiling monitor speakers were installed across the five conference rooms (which can be re-partitioned into either 1 or 2 larger rooms) along with 12 CVS6 in-ceiling speakers and 16 Di8 DC surface mount loudspeakers, delivering a more than capable solution for both music and speech and blending into the modern décor of the hotel.
Elsewhere, CMS501 DC Pi speakers were used to provide sound to the reception and the areas outside the elevators across the five floors of the building. These high power and high sensitivity ceiling monitors contain a 130mm (5") ICT transducer, and are designed to fit into zinc-plated, fully wired back cans specifically developed to be pre-installed into newly constructed, non-suspended ceilings - leaving the speaker to be inserted at the final system commissioning stage of the install.
The 16 Di8 DC speaker cabinets in the conference areas were specified in white, in keeping with the interior aesthetics, and provide a higher output and wider frequency bandwidth audio source for these spaces.
The hotel's piano bar demanded a more powerful audio installation, and to meet these requirements, a pair of Tannoy V8s, a single VS10 BP and four i6 MP speakers were deployed. Meanwhile some bottom end is provided by the VS10 BP, utilising a single high efficiency 250mm (10") drive unit in a compact and sturdy, black or white painted MDF cabinet.
Amplification for the Tannoy speakers is provided by Lab.gruppen and is controlled by a pair of Yamaha DME-24N digital mixing engines.
AVAB CAC's Trond Kristoffersen comments: "The client is absolutely delighted with the results, both in terms of how the system blends into the hotel interior spaces as well as how good it sounds. We're also very satisfied with the Tannoy speakers we chose for the job and will have no qualms in specifying them again", continues Trond.
