Having first heard the system at the 2008 ABTT Show, Nicholson had been keeping a keen eye on the product's early success in the installation market and felt there was great potential for VQ as a world class live system. Following some informal discussion of the possibilities, Tannoy welcomed Nicholson's extensive expertise to the table and he began consulting with their engineering team on adapting the existing VQ Series to suit the touring market.
Within a very short period of time Tannoy had responded to Nicholson's ideas, resulting in a new and radical departure for the company - a product for the high end pro audio market - VQ Live.
"Offering significant and tangible benefits over other brands: sonic superiority, less boxes required, lower costs and full VNET implementation (allowing system commissioning and ongoing venue network control, incorporating real time diagnostics), VQ Live has the potential to be a true line array killer", say Tannoy.
Salisbury-based Red Square Audio will be exclusive distributor for VQ Live in the UK and Eire. Paul Nicholson comments: "As a mix engineer, company owner, and distributor, VQ Live ticks all the right boxes. I haven't come across a package that performs simultaneously on all these levels before. I'm not just talking about small increments, VQ Live is quite literally streets ahead of the competition. Now, having turned a stunning installation product into a road ready system, I'm certain that VQ Live will fast become an industry icon."
An official launch event is being held at Pinewood Studios on 27 January to mark the new relationship between Red Square Audio and both Tannoy and Innovason. VQ Live is expected to market a few months later, around Easter.
