The flat floor capacity and a stage that can be flipped to allow performances in the courtyard make it unique to north-east Victoria and southern NSW.
Professional Audio Services were called upon to supply audio requirements to this multi-purpose space including a JBL VRX PA.
"The JBL VRX was specified by the consultant although we have a VRX rig ourselves which we had used a few times in the old venue and their technical manager was very impressed by it," commented Tony Boon, managing director of PAS. "We agreed it was the best PA for the new venue especially as we had plenty more to add to it if required. It's small and tidy but sounds like a big PA - it sounds unbelievably good especially as the room is quite good acoustically."
The PA system comprises of three JBL VRX 932 LAP and a JBL VRX 918 SP per side. For foldback there is a pair of JBL PRX 612M cabinets.
Also supplied were JBL Eon for portable performances and JBL PRX to cover a variety of requirements such as foldback, stand-alone PA, side fills, outdoor café scenarios.
For control a Soundcraft Si Compact 32 was chosen. "It's a beautifully flexible console that sounds awesome plus the reverbs are great," said Boon. "We also added a Lexicon reverb for the portable rig."
Microphones are all by Shure and include Shure Beta 58A's, Shure Beta 57's, Shure Beta 52's, Shure ULX's, Shure MX202's and Shure KSM137's.
Professional Audio Services also supplied a comprehensive package of lighting fixtures to the venue including thirty-six ETC Source Four Zoom Spots, twenty-four ETC Source Four Fresnel, ten ETC Source Four ParNel and twenty-four ETC Source Four PARs.
"The ETC Source Fours are, as expected, excellent," said Adam, lighting and tech guru at PAS. "The Source Four Fresnels in particular are a killer, a great lamp. We also supplied six Vari*Lite VL1100 TIDs, chosen for their versatility as they cover a lot of ground."
Adrian Yates, The Cube Wodonga technical co-ordinator, said of the Vari*Lite VL1100 TIDS, "put simply, we would like more."
The venue also has an ETC Ion for control as well as a Pathway Connectivity Pathport system, both installed by other suppliers.
