On the eve of what is predicted to be a buoyant and well-attended ABTT Show in London, we have to report that console manufacturer Cadac Electronics has gone into administration. Managing director Bob Thomas said: "It is heartbreaking to see this great company go under at this stage. Although additional bank finance had been put in place to complete the S-Digital development and to get its production under way, the sudden slump in forecast analogue sales over the next few months meant that Cadac would be unable to maintain the underlying cashflow necessary for its survival." Sad news indeed.

The announcement that L-Acoustics has signed an Icelandic distributor, Nyherji, is further evidence that this North Atlantic outpost has established itself as a leading player on the international live sound circuit. Many international tours now include Reykjavik in their itineraries, while there is a thriving local music scene, backed by efficient rental companies, promoters, and world-class recording studios.

On the environmental front, NSCA members who visit the NSCA Zone at Infocomm 08 can register to win a new fuel-economy car. It's all part of NSCA's effort to support the green initiative and help its members save money. With an electric motor, outstanding fuel efficiency, quiet performance, and low CO2 emissions, the 1.5L 4-cylinder Prius Hybrid gets an estimated 46 miles to the gallon. NSCA members in the US and Canada, including those who join at the show, are eligible for the Prius drawing.

On matters financial, Barco has partnered with IBM Global Financing (IGF) to develop a new lease offering to help rental and staging companies more easily acquire Barco projector technology. The new CLM Lease Offering, backed by IBM Global Financing, gives companies the opportunity to access Barco's CLM line of projectors, designed and built specifically for the demanding rental and staging market.

And finally, digital signage has arrived at London's Billingsgate Fish Market. Seafood specialists, CT Holmes has become the first trader in the new Docklands-based market to embrace digital signage. The new UCS rear projection display installed by Digital Vision AV has given the company (which trades as Holmes Seafood) a competitive edge during the brisk early morning trading at the world-famous 900-year-old market.
