Posthumous Awards (1) - The Music Producers Guild (UK) has announced that Les Paul will be the recipient of its 2010 Joe Meek Award for Innovation in Production. The Award will be presented at the annual Music Producers Guild Awards, which takes place at the Café de Paris in London, on 11 February 2010. Les Paul, who died on 12 August 2009 at the age of 94, was best known as the inventor of the Gibson Les Paul guitar, and a Grammy Award-winning guitarist. The early prototype of his namesake guitar, known as 'The Log', was initially dismissed by Gibson as "a broomstick with pickups". However, the company eventually adopted Les Paul's designs and went on to create one of world's most used and copied guitars.
Posthumous Awards (2) - Michael Jackson has made history by winning four posthumous prizes at the American Music Awards. The wins made Jackson, who died in June at the age of 50, the most honoured artist in the ceremony's history with a career total of 23 accolades. But country star Taylor Swift was the big winner on the night, winning five prizes including artist of the year. Less successful was Jennifer Lopez, who slipped and landed on her rear during a dance routine for her latest single. The singer was unhurt in the brief tumble and carried on with her performance.
