Park Life - The number of concerts held at Hyde Park has been cut from 13 a year to nine after complaints from residents. Westminster Council has also decided to reduce the number of people who can attend the events, from 80,000 to 65,000, and in some cases to 50,000.The changes come into effect next year. Hyde Park's licence to host events came under review after complaints about noise almost doubled since 2008.

The staging of live Olympics screenings and concerts planned for 2012 were not included in the review and the council agreed that an 18-day series of concerts will be held in the park to celebrate the Games and events related to the Queen's Jubilee.

Councillor Audrey Lewis, Westminster Council's Licensing chairman, said, "We have a duty to balance the needs of local residents with the desire of concert organisers to hold events and the compromise that the committee has reached does all of this. We will monitor the additional noise control measures and continue to work with both concert organisers and residents to ensure this is an effective solution to concerns raised."

London's Mayor Boris Johnson said, "Westminster are right to respect their residents, but they also have a responsibility for the economic vitality of the capital overall. Large-scale music events like the Hyde Park concerts make a massive contribution to London's economy."

Teenage Cancer Trust - Florence and the Machine, Jessie J and Pulp are among the acts who are to play shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust. UK rapper Example will kick off the run of concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall on 30 March. The Who's Roger Daltry, a Teenage Cancer Trust patron, said,"The line-up of artists donating their time and talent is incredible. I hope there's something for everyone."

On The Beach - Sir Elton John will be the first artist to play a concert on the new Tower Festival Headland in Blackpool this summer. He will play one night - 16 June - at the seated outdoor venue next to Blackpool Tower.

Natalie Wyatt, managing director of Marketing Blackpool commented, "This concert will mark the opening of the venue as a premier space for events and festivals and is testament to the fantastic improvements which have taken place in the resort to date. I'm sure that many visitors will come to enjoy the concert and then take the opportunity to experience everything that Blackpool has to offer whilst they are here."

Brit Awards - Ed Sheeran is in the running for four awards at the 32nd Brits which take place at the 02 Arena this evening. Adele - fresh from winning six Grammys - and Jessie J are up for three each. Blur will pick up a lifetime achievement award.

Web News - Producers of Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark have agreed to pay sacked director Julie Taymor hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties. She sued them after she was fired from the Broadway musical in March, claiming she was not compensated for her work. She will be paid an estimated $10,000 (£6,300) a week in director royalties from the start of previews in November 2010 until the end of its Broadway run.
