Silver Scream - Primal Scream will be named musical icons at the Silver Clef award ceremony in July. The band, who were instrumental in shaping the indie pop scene in the early 1990s, called the icon award "a real honour". Previous winners of the icon award include Sir Cliff Richard, Dame Vera Lynn, Madness and Fatboy Slim. Rita Ora, a recent judge on The Voice, will be named best female, while music producer Mark Ronson will be given this year's innovation award.

The Silver Clef awards, which celebrate their 40th anniversary this year, have raised £8.5m to fund music therapy for vulnerable and isolated people across the UK. Last month, Iron Maiden were announced as this year's winners of the Silver Clef prize for outstanding contribution to music, while pop-opera crossover group Il Divo will pick up the classical prize.

Classical News - This year's BBC Proms will feature concerts inspired by the Ibiza dance scene, Sherlock Holmes and the Hubble space telescope. The two-month music festival, starting on 17 July, will also see Sir David Attenborough narrating a prom to the music of his Life Story TV series. There will be 92 concerts in total, mainly at London's Royal Albert Hall. Marin Alsop will return to conduct the Last Night of the Proms, after her 2013 debut. Edward Blakeman, this year's Proms director, said there would be a "big focus" on piano works with more than 25 solo pianists featuring across the season. For the first time at the Proms, a series of Sunday matinees are being introduced aimed at families.

Mobile Ban - Mumford and Sons played a "special secret gig" in Brighton's Dome Corn Exchange where punters were banned from taking their phones into the venue. The multimillion-selling quartet took the step to prevent any online leaks of new material from their unreleased third album. The Mumfords played the gig as a warm up for the band's upcoming festival dates and their own Gentlemen of the Road gigs in the UK and US this summer. Mumford and Sons' new album Wilder Mind will be released on 4 May.

Cats Back - Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats is to return to the West End for a 10-week season later this year. The production, which completes its current West End run on April 25 and then embarks on a run in Blackpool this summer, will return to the London Palladium from 23 October 23 to 2 January, 2016.

Unbalanced View - Amy Winehouse's family has criticised a film about her life, saying it's "misleading". Speaking to BBC's Newsbeat, Amy's father Mitch says the producers left out key details. He says the film is unbalanced, and isn't happy with the way he's portrayed. The documentary, Amy, is due to be shown at this year's Cannes Film Festival. It was made by the same team behind the BAFTA-winning documentary Senna, about the Formula 1 racing driver Ayrton Senna.

Mitch, who now fronts the Amy Winehouse Foundation, says, "These guys have decided what to put in and what not to put in. It's a two-hour film and you can't put everything, but there's a got to be an element of balance and there isn't any...a biographer puts everything down there and lets people decide for themselves."
