UK – The Theatres Trust Conference returns next week (Tuesday 8 October), taking place at The Lowry in Salford. With a theme of ‘Making Theatres Thrive’, the full programme has now been announced and includes a mix of speakers, panels and case studies.
Speakers include senior politicians, such as: Cllr Bev Craig, leader of Manchester City Council and Economy, Business & Inclusive Growth lead for Greater Manchester Combined Authority; and Cllr Tracey Dixon, leader of South Tyneside Council and Portfolio Holder for Inclusion and Skills, North East Combined Authority.
Senior theatre leaders from across the UK will also present, including: Kathy Bourne, Chichester Festival Theatre; Kris Bryce, Pitlochry Festival Theatre; Selina Cartmel, Royal Exchange Theatre; Julia Fawcett, The Lowry; Jemima Levick, Tron; Douglas Rintoul, New Wolsey Theatre; Chris Stafford, Curve, and Sheena Wrigley, Factory International.
Leading theatre consultants and architecture practices set to participate will include: Burrell Foley Fischer Architects, Fielden Clegg Bradley, Harper Tackley Consultants, Haworth Tompkins and Suzie Bridges Architects.
Networking and ‘idea sharing’ opportunities will also form a key part of the day. This includes two ‘Catalyst Sessions’, where a session leader will spark a wider conversation about key topics such as environmental sustainability.
Delegates are also invited to enjoy one of two programmes of theatre tours on Wednesday 9 October. Tour one will visit Aviva Studios, Home and Contact Theatre, while tour two will visit the Palace Theatre, Royal Exchange and Aviva Studios. The tours have limited availability and cost an additional £50 + VAT. Interested parties are encouraged to book soon to avoid disappointment.

Bring a more junior colleague for half price
Recognising that budgets don’t always allow for more junior staff to attend conferences, the Theatres Trust is offering a second delegate place at the conference at half price when booked alongside a full price conference place. Find out more about the Future Leaders initiative.
