UK - TiMax audio imaging and showcontrol systems have been specified as a pivotal component in the sound designs for a number of prestige corporate and special events this summer. AV and theatre sound supplier Blitz recently included TiMax in its sound design for Vauxhall's display at the Birmingham Motor Show. Specified by Blitz's Richard Rogers and supplied under Out Board's TiMax Rental and Production Support program, the 16x32 system was used by production sound engineer Pete Russell primarily to focus visitors' attention on a large LED screen running segments of commercials and branding stings.

As part of a 30-minute show cycled throughout the day, fully synchronized to SMPTE time code from the video master, TiMax also provided animated surround ambience effects to attract visitors to the stand and the promotional videos. Speakers were all d&b, with line array elements providing the main screen focus and distributed C6s for the multi-channel surround effects system.

Also taking advantage of Out Board's Production Support program, London-based Orbital Sound used a 16x16 TiMax to create an immersive surround environment for delegates at a major Hewlett-Packard product launch conference, as part of a sound design by Alan 'Whizz' Mathieson.

TiMax later took to the catwalk to help launch a new collection by fashion designer Alexander McQueen, in a glitzy Earls Court show dubbed simply 'Black', and featuring a boudoir bar complete with chaises-longues and chandeliers. Under the direction of Britannia Row's Roland Oliver, Out Board's Dave Haydon created an eight-channel moving surround soundscape within the event's pre-show walk-in area, using music and effects pre-mixes specially programmed for the show.

And, for the fifth year running, Wigwam has supplied TiMax as part of a distributed sound system for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, to a sound design created by festival veteran John Del'Nero. The system was digitally interfaced to the Yamaha console via AES/EBU and MIDI, to provide animated sound reinforcement for choral and orchestral elements of the show's marching band segments, in addition to automated sound effects such as jet fly-pasts.
