"TOA has an extremely long and solid record in standard compliance," says Wolfgang Pein, director, German sales at TOA Europe. "EN 54 stipulates the product and testing requirements for voice alarm components in fire detection and alarm systems and TOA were first to bring the compliant products to market. They can be found in a number of systems in use today such as the OpernTurm in Frankfurt Germany."
EN-54 aims to improve the communication of installed systems with the outside world - users, installers, fire fighters and, most importantly, the public. Also, EN 54 states the availability of system functionality in the most adverse or challenging of operating environments.
All EN 54 standards will become effective across the member states of the European Union in March, 2011.
