With a fairly open design brief, Tower's James Mitchelmore and Pete Donald covered lighting design, and rigging respectively.
A Prolyte MPT system provided the stage cover with Prolyte S52 being used from the stadium roof some 40m off the deck, for lighting and PA hangs. Two dozen 2500w city colours formed the basis of the stadium lighting with 100no. assorted P64 doing detail and effect work.
Robe CS700s hung from the grandstand provided keylight for marching bands and break-up patterns on the track. Stage lighting was largely generic comprising 2k fresnels and S4 profiles and pars. Movement was by Robe 250 colourwashes.
The Tower power team ran all show supplies from a mixture of mains and synchronised generators from Tower's own fleet. This included pulling 60m lengths of 16mm 5-core onto the roof.
Everything had to be struck overnight following the show in order for a closed practice session on the pitch the following day prior to the Calcutta Cup the day after.
At the same time as all this, the Tower power team were also installing a further 10 generators, distribution, lighting and heating to bars, shops and hospitality structures around the stadium and coach park, a further 1700kva in total.
This also saw the first use of the new Tower powercube towerlights at Murrayfield. These can be controlled by timer or photocell and run from a mains supply or nearby generator ensuring a minimum of fuel is used.
