UK - Trident is adding a sunlight readable large format 32-inch LCD panel to its portfolio. The W32L300 display features transflective technology to allow viewing even in bright daylight, making it especially well suited to retail applications such as shop windows and estate agents.

The new WinMate transflective coating is a patent pending innovation that equips TFT LCDs with a reflective mode of illumination without compromising transmissive illumination. The display reflects ambient light passing through the LCD cell and employs the reflected light as its illumination. The stronger the ambient light, the brighter the LCD appears. As a result, the display can be viewed under all lighting conditions, including direct sunlight, regardless of the LCD's original brightness.

The new open-frame display has a 31.5-inch (800mm) diagonal viewing area with 16:9 aspect ratio. It has a typical contrast ratio of 800:1 and displays up to 16.7 million colours in a recommended resolution of 1366x768 at 60 or 75Hz.

Standard models come with a 15-pin D-sub connector for signal input. Optionally, the screen accepts S-video and composite video as well as standard inputs. Power consumption is 150W in typical operation and the display features VESA DPMS power management functions to lower energy usage.

Trident is one of Europe's leading technical franchised distributor of displays, interface kits, single board computers, panel PCs, printers and card readers as well as assembling and manufacturing custom built embedded systems. The company is part of the Abacus Group and has offices in the UK and across Europe.
