While installing the 56 acoustic roller blinds and three Venetian acoustic banners in the Lawrence Hall, Triple E had also provided a semi-permanent, manual pipe and drape partition system which allowed the staff to mask off the hall's 14 side bays. The drapes, manufactured by J&C Joel, were of reversible, double sided, bonded wool serge, providing the option of black or sand coloured drapes, the latter being dyed, like the acoustic blinds and banners, to colour match the walls.
David Edelstein, managing director of Triple E and designer of the system, says: "The partition system proved extremely popular, and the operations staff at Royal Horticultural Halls asked if we could find a way to save them time on rigging and de-rigging. Key to the design was retaining the versatility of the reversible drapes, which meant there was only one solution. Chaintrack can turn 180ยบ within a radius of 30mm, and so provides the option for double sided curtains, which reveal a different side each time the curtain is open and closed."
The 14 Chaintrack systems, each 6m long, are operated manually via a removable awning handle, enabling staff to deploy the 28 reversible curtains quickly and easily. An additional Chaintrack system has also been installed immediately below the central Venetian acoustic banner at the clock end of the hall.
Triple E was also asked to supply an additional drape to hide a door on the north wall of Lawrence Hall, which at the same time helped with the prevention of sound break out, which was a major consideration of the acoustic blinds and banners installed during the summer. Made of J&C Joel's black wool serge, this utilises Triple E's new 3WAY track.
