USA - The 121st Audio Engineering Society Convention held from October 5-8, 2006 at San Francisco's Moscone Center saw the first showing in the US of Turbosound's new addition to its award-winning Aspect loudspeaker system, the digitally self-powered TA-500DP.

A new generation of professional lightweight, network-controlled Class D power amplifiers is at the heart of the three-way full range TA-500DP. Its DSP is based on a Sharc processor utilising a 96kHz sampling rate and is controlled over a network via the BVNet protocol.

The TA-500DP's amplifier module offers typical operating efficiency in excess of 90%, contributing to a lighter and more manageable product. The module incorporates sophisticated DSP, including active crossovers, output limiters and impedance monitoring, making up a completely self-contained and optimised audio system that requires only a line level signal feed to give consistent and reliable performance.

To coincide with the launch of the TA-500DP, Turbosound has also launched the LMS-BVNet card, which fits into the option slot on the rear of LMS-D24 and LMS-D26 controllers giving full control over all the DSP functions in real-time. This allows LMS series controllers and Turbosound powered loudspeakers to be mixed on the same control network, making it a solution for both system monitoring and control in either installation or touring environments.

The TurboDrive control software allows online access of any BVNet network and all the Turbosound products connected to it, as well as the ability to store and back up any settings in the networked products. TurboDrive enables control of input EQ, delay and mute functions, whilst key factory settings - such as limiters and driver correction - are locked, ensuring maximum flexibility but consistent voicing and driver protection in the field.

Other products on show at AES will include the TSB-118 compact bandpass subwoofer, an ideal complement to Aspect TA-500 products. From the TCS Compact installation speaker range the 10" 2-way TCS-101C and 15" 2-way TCS-151C - both optionally available with IP54 weatherproof specification and 70volt line transformers - will be on display, as well as the new TCS-C50T two-way ceiling speaker designed for the background sound and voice evacuation markets. Also on display will be the TXD-252 switchable bi-amp/passive full range loudspeaker and the TXD-12M compact passive two-way floor monitor from the TXD series of portable passive loudspeakers.
