Entec, the sound company handling the European and UK leg of The Who's current European and US tour, were happy to oblige and turned to cable specialist VDC Trading for assistance. "We supplied Entec with a Van Damme Star Quad microphone cable for Roger Daltry because it is incredibly tough and is built to withstand on-stage radio interference," says VDC account manager Carl Stage. "For the drum kit, we sourced Vam Damme classic mic cable finished in grey with matching grey boots for all connectors."
The cable has already been used for a number of performances, including The Who's recent appearance at the 02 Wireless Festival in Leeds. Entec's sound manager Dick Hayes says: "Serious artists like The Who are very particular about the equipment they tour with and pay careful attention to every detail, right down to the cables. As a company, we specialise in delivering quality audio solutions and only work with brands that we have confidence in."
Entec, established in the 1960s, is one of the UK's longest established lighting and sound companies. It offers full technical production to the entertainment industry. As well as lighting and audio solutions, it also supplies professional technicians, staging sets and project management for any event. Over the years these have included concert tours, live events, corporate shows, exhibitions, television, theatres and open-air festivals, branding exercises, sporting and equestrian shows, military bands, religious gatherings and garden parties.
