Over 600m of five-way Mini Red Video Coax cable is being installed, along with Cat 5 data cable and a range of specialist audio cables.
"We chose VDC cables for a variety of reasons, not least the reliability, quality and price point," says Jim Millar, presentation systems manager for Saville. "We have used the company's products in the past, particularly for larger projects. In this case VDC were also able to deliver cable in different reel sizes, which was an important consideration."
Saville is UK's largest specialist supplier of audio visual, video and presentation technology and the Official Audio Visual Partner for the £113 million stadium, due to open in August. The multi-purpose complex will be the new 32,000-seat home of Coventry City FC and one of the most spectacular sports, leisure and concert venues ever built. The mammoth structure will also incorporate overnight accommodation boasting 70 bedrooms, a 6,000sqft exhibition/events/concert hall, retail units, health and fitness centre and high tech offices. A 'resort casino' to be run by the American-based Isle of Capri is also planned for the site, which at 90,000sqft is expected to be the UK's largest.
The venue will house over 3,000sqft of conference and banqueting space for more than 2,000 diners on three levels. It will also include a 1,000-seater banqueting suite, which will be the largest column-free conference and banqueting space in the Midlands. Saville Audio Visual is designing and installing audio visual and sound systems throughout these areas and is also equipping a permanent, state-of-the-art Business Suite overlooking the pitch.
Events and meetings taking place at the Arena will benefit from an on-site stock of audio visual equipment plus the services of an in-house Saville technician. A full range of support services will be provided from the nearby Saville hire centre in Coventry, including conference design and production facilities and AV equipment hire.
Saville MD John Sills said: "We are proud to be involved in such a landmark project from the very beginning. We're looking forward to being part of an exciting partnership."
