"The best thing about VDC is the technical support you get to ensure the installation goes smoothly," says Soundworks' founder Simon Jones. "We spent about a week discussing exactly what we needed with VDC's technical staff so that when we actually received the cables, which were made up into runs at their premises in London, we were able to install them really quickly and easily with minimal fuss. It was all very straightforward and the service we received was excellent."
Soundworks, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this month, is a high-end audio facility that specialises in sound design, recording and post production for a broad range of clients. The complex has four studios and three sound editing/tracklaying suites.
The new ICON has been installed in Studio One, the facility's main 5.1 film dubbing theatre. Jones has also invested in a new HD projector and playback system and given the entire theatre a fresh look with new fabric and wallpaper.
"The rationale behind this investment is to attract more film work by really pushing our 5.1 facilities," Jones adds. "The new ICON desk is fantastic - I've been using Pro Tools for 11 years now and it's great to have everything integrated via the console."
Soundworks handles a wide range of projects including film and television dramas and documentaries, television commercials, animation, flash web based media, corporate projects and exhibition audio. It is currently working on a drama series for Welsh Channel 4 and a number of animated films, including one by Joanna Quinn, the animation talent behind the Charmin commercials.
