UK - For Velvet Revolver's Belfast Odyssey Arena concert, Concert Sound supplied a system built around MILO high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers.

The main system utilised left and right arrays, each consisting of 13 MILO cabinets and one MILO 120 high-power expanded coverage loudspeaker underhung for downfill. Eight 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers were groundstacked on each side to provide added firepower.

A centre array of MSL-4 horn-loaded long-throw loudspeakers completed the set-up. "The MSL-4s on the ground were for extra side coverage and a little bit of front fill," comments system technician Tony Szabo. "We used eleven MSL-4s in total, just to fill the spaces. Instead of putting a side hang up in the air, we threw a few more fills in there at ground level. Two LD-3s (compensating line drivers) are used to drive the MILOs."

"The Meyer Sound system is a lot easier to handle than a conventionally-powered system," explains Meyer Sound European technical support representative Karoly Molnar. "Because everything is in the loudspeaker - the amps, crossovers and so on - it leaves the stage nice and clean.

One challenge during setup was that it was not possible to fully design the system in advance, but it proved not to be a problem. "We used Meyer Sound MAPP Online to design the system onsite," adds Molnar. "Part of the venue had been draped off and we weren't quite sure about where the drape was going to go, so it was an instant onsite solution."
