Hong Kong - Lighthouse Technologies reports a 60% year on year growth in sales for 2005, reaffirming its position as a world leader in the manufacturer of LED screens, says the company.

High points in 2005 included the installation of a Lighthouse LED screen at Samsung's flagship advertising site in London's Piccadilly Circus. The 12m x 12m P16 16mm pixel pitch, 5,000 Nits brightness screen, had already proven its worth in this location on the Coca Cola site. With Samsung's position being adjacent, they wanted to have something that was equal in quality.

USA - Barco has won a contract to provide over 46,000 OLite 510 outdoor LED modules for the new Victory Park development in downtown Dallas. In what Barco say will become one of the largest high-definition outdoor media installations worldwide, 11 individual LED displays will be constructed at Victory Park, one of the most significant master planned urban developments in the country. The Victory Media Network will include two fixed 20ft x 20ft tower displays, a digital portal, and eight movable 15ft x 26'ft LED walls (installed in two four-panel groups that face each other across the 60-foot wide Victory Plaza).

The movable media displays will be mounted on rails, and stacked two-on-two. Using the Barco Screen Movement System, the panels can be choreographed individually with discreet video and surround-sound feeds, or locked together to form 30ft x 50ft HD screens with true 16:

UK - Live brand experience specialists MMM produced a stylish show for the 2005 Hyundai National Dealers Conference at the Celtic Manor, Newport. The event introduced some corporate restructuring and the new UK manufacturing company, Hyundai Motors UK, which replaces the previous Hyundai importers, RAC PLC. It also showcased the new vehicles for 2006.

MMM's brief was to ensure the day's proceedings were highly motivational for the delegates. The conference was followed by dinner and entertainment led by a male voice choir, and comedian Dominic Holland.

MMM designed the set and supplied the necessary technical infrastructure including staging, sound, lighting and AV. USA - XL Touring Video provided equipment and support for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2006 show, to air on ABC-TV 31December 2005. Talent for the show included Hillary Duff, The Bangles, Chris Brown, Sean Paul, The Pussycast Dolls, Sugarland, 3 Doors Down and 311. XL provided two MiPix screens, Barco I-10 LED, two hi res soft LED and six plasma screens.

Australia - Hemisphere Conference Centre & Hotel, located on the Moorabbin Campus of Holmesglen TAFE, recently upgraded their audio-visual system courtesy of solutions company, Lightmoves.

With their business focussed on corporate conferences and retreats, Hemisphere demands first class performance from their audio-visual systems. Their existing system was not capable of meeting these standards, suffering from poor sound quality that was often muffled and uneven. In addition, many of their clients were now demanding access to a projector and screen, facilities not readily available in-house.

After their installation of an audio-visual system in the conference rooms of Holmesglen TAFE's Chadstone campus, Lightmoves were approached by Hemisphere to provide a solution that would enhance their overall audio-visual quality, but also fall within budget.

USA - XL Video Atlanta, in support of design company Production Design Group (PDG), a Jack Morton Company, supplied and installed for the Turner Network Television's (TNT) Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA. XL Video supplied a Barco SLM R9+ Performer, for a suspended 16:9 portrait style video screen. The frameless projection screen was mounted on motors to lift on and off the set for a variety of camera shots. Belgium - With five weeks to go before the start of Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2006 at the Brussels Expo (1-3 February) the organizers report that the show is now practically sold out, and will be more than twice the size of the 2005 event.

Mike Blackman, managing director of ISE 2006, says that ISE is more than just an exhibition: "AV and Electronic Systems integration is about stimulating the senses to reflect the growing use of digital signage in retail and corporate environments and custom residential systems. UK - Liverpool welcomed 2006 with a spectacular 20-minute multimedia son et lumière event organised by The Liverpool Culture Company, designed to appeal to a mass audience. The show, staged on the steps of St Georges Hall with the iconic building's impressive neoclassical architecture as a backdrop, featured dancing water fountains, a water screen, lighting, sound, lasers, giant flame effects and fireworks. It was enjoyed free by over 8,000 people.

The show was devised by Kirstie Blakeman (also the event manager) from Liverpool Culture Company and Steve Boothman from Fantastic Fireworks. They created a soundtrack encompassing an array of music styles - kicking off with Leftfield's 'Phat Planet' and ending on the Can-Can.

UK - Using one of the simplest yet most striking staging concepts in the world of live entertainment, Fatboy Slim took London by storm, playing two sell-out shows at the Brixton Academy recently.

The production's party piece is a massive LED screen filling the entire dimensions of the stage. Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) is framed in its centre, performing his set from the kind of floating cradle more familiar to professional window cleaners than celebrity DJs.

PSL Music supplied the 9.14m wide x 6.85m high screen, a Lighthouse R16 screen which was also used in the UK's test match cricket grounds for coverage of the Ashes Series. The show's stunning graphical content was programmed by VJ Tim Fleming, incorporating audience footage sourced by PSL's 2-camera unit, and from a mini-cam (or 'lipstick camera') worn by Fatboy Slim himself.

Spain - One of Lighthouse Technologies' key European rental partners, Spanish audio-visual specialist Stereorent, ensured its stand was an eyecatching highlight of the International Madrid Broadcast Fair, by utilising a pair of large format Lighthouse LED video screens.

This, the 12th Broadcast Fair, was held from 15th-18th November in Madrid's Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I. Held biennially, the event is a key date in the calendar for Spanish audio-visual professionals, with manufacturers and service providers the key exhibitors.

The Stereorent stand's main screen comprised over 9sq.m of Lighthouse R6 6mm panels. UK - XL Video UK supplied lighting and visual designer Andy Hurst with video equipment for A-Ha's recent UK arena tour, in an interesting design merging both mediums.

Hurst worked with video specialist Richard Shipman and XL's project managers Paul Wood and Des Fallon to get the video elements exactly as he wanted. From the outset, he intended using video as a lightsource blended together with the lighting cues. LED tech for the tour was Andy Tonks.

The tour's starting point was a massive show in Oslo, Norway (the band's home country) to celebrate the City's Centenary. With 120,000 attending, it was the largest show in Norway to date, and featured a 10 camera DVD shoot with lots of video onstage.
