According to Pål Berg, CEO of Norwegian integrators, Gobex, rear projection offered the most robust display solution to present the scores to spectators at several locations on the course. "We needed a display capable of producing bright and crisp images under challenging conditions, including long viewing distances, wide viewing angles, and high ambient light levels. The Vikuiti screen was also the only one of its kind with an integrated anti-glare surface, which has proved absolutely essential for the success of the GolfScore system," said Berg.
Gobex developed the GolfScore system for golf courses everywhere to collate scores directly using 3G mobile and Internet technology, and has demonstrated the system successfully at a number of golf clubs in Scandinavia. The system takes care of collecting scores recorded out on the course during the game, and uploads these to an Internet server. PCs with 3G mobile cards are used to fetch the score data from the Internet and relay these to the leaderboard units.
Three 60-inch Vikuiti rear projection screens from 3M were used to display the scores during the tournament, including the main digital leaderboard at the clubhouse.
