Produced by Brand Events, Top Gear Live is the live arena show for the award-winning TV programme Top Gear. Featuring stunts, special effects and blockbusting driving sequences, the show packs in pyro, noise and spectacle.
This touring show features its most complex stage set to date, using 3D projection mapping to generate exotic backdrops on a 36m wide screen. Content created by Bruce Ferguson from The Darkroom has been programmed by Bluman Associates, and delivers an array of scenarios and tricks - the interactive 'Cool Wall' made popular on TV, steaming tropical jungles and dusty desertscapes, virtual plasma screens to carry the presenter interviews.
"Executive Show Producer Rowland French and production manager Simon Aldridge took a very courageous step in proposing projection mapping," says Pod Bluman of Bluman Associates. "Using this technology has given the show tremendous creative freedom and energy."
The show's projection is delivered using 6x Christie S+20K HD projectors, working with Hippotizer V3 HD i7 media servers, operated by Simon Hudson.
Also working in Pod Bluman's crew were projectionist John Edwards, camera director Richard Shipman and racks engineer Ian Haywood, along with camera operators Mathew Hale and Bob Stansfield.
