"The GL2800 is the perfect size for smaller venues, gigs and festivals, which make up a huge portion of our hire business. The mixer's 10 auxes provide plenty of capacity so we are easily able to manage FOH, monitors, and have room left over for effects," comments VME director,Dion Davie. "The GL2800 has a new mic preamp design, which offer great headroom and clean sound, and a brand new 4-band EQ, which is incredibly accurate and musical. All in all, they are very rider-friendly consoles, and a fantastic addition to our stock."
The 32-channel version recently went out on its debut gig at a new live music night, 'Apathy Descends', held at Blackpool's The Tache Rock Club. The night offers rising UK punk bands a platform, and the opening line up comprised 180 Degrees, Phinius Gage and headliners, Failsafe.
"The GL2800 performed brilliantly," comments VME engineer, Owen Hardman. "We easily managed FOH and monitors for the three bands. Plus, as with all of Allen & Heath's mixers, it's nicely set out and easy to use, which is ideal for any guest engineers."
The GL2800 was complemented by Kling & Freitag speakers, Lab Gruppen amps, and Drawmer and Yamaha gates, compressors, and FX.
