The Vuepix factory is based in Shenzhen, China, and the new brand will be distributed globally through another new company, Visual Lighting Solutions. This will provide general distribution and service of the new LED screens manufactured in China via Robe's worldwide dealer network.
Valchar states, "We have been keeping a careful eye on the convergence of the mediums of lighting and video over the last five years, and have already brought a number of highly successful Robe 'digital lighting' products to the market. With this trend of integration very much 'ongoing', the next logical step for us is to invest in the manufacture of state-of-the-art screens.
The Vuepix brand is designed to deliver the same quality and standards expected by any top-end international clients, at a competitive price.
The first products in the Vuepixrange will be prominent on the Robe lighting booth at Prolight+Sound 2010, Frankfurt.
Featured will be 12 & 18mm pitch medium-high resolution 'mesh' screens together with a 36mm version. All of these will be available in the same sized modular frames with an identical locking mechanism, designed and built for quick assembly and de-rigging and for the dynamic mix-and-matching of different types of surface in a single screen area if desired.
The mesh screens are all IP65 rated and therefore good for both indoor and outdoor use, including scenic and architectural, as well as for digital signage and advertising applications or art installations.
A 6mm high resolution solid Vuepix screen in a cabinet casing will also be shown at Frankfurt. These are designed for corporate events, presentations, shows and high resolution applications of all types.
"We know the lighting rental, concert touring and presentation markets very well through Robe, and have been listening carefully to user feedback about what is wanted and needed," comments Valchar.
