Thailand - W-DMX was recently used during a two-month tour with the Dino Fantasy Park World Tour 2006 in Thailand. The show thrilled visitors with life-sized dinosaur replicas and a special effects light show, provided by LDS Show of Bangkok. Although the set and props were imported from Japan, the lighting was locally contracted to LDS, with lighting design by Poon Limpapun and Sermsak Boonyhai. The team was faced with a large venue and hard-to-reach areas to light. Wireless Solution's S-1 Transmitter was used with 24 R-512 Receivers to control 24 Wybron Nexera Wash and Profile fixtures in these remote areas. Par cans and colour changers were used for general overhead lighting.

Subtle shades of green, orange and blue wash created the look and feel of changing sunlight patterns that helped tell the story. The audience entered the exhibit, surrounded by blue sky and soft daylight. It was then complemented by a wash of ambers to represent noon and then dimmed to blue as it went into the night. At one point, the T-Rex comes to life and starts to attack, at which point pulses of red are added to enhance the mood. After the T-Rex attacks, the audience moved on to the Golden Land of Paradise with amber and pink lighting. Finally, Syncrolites washed the set as the audience exited.

"Wireless DMX and the Nexera fixtures helped us in achieving many effects that we haven't done before considering the placement of the equipment. We placed them behind the models, far back behind the sets and other various remote locations throughout the entire venue, controlling them with Wireless DMX which proved to be highly successful," he explains. The system was controlled with a Compulite DLITE Console running on a Q-List mode time coded with Sound Systems.

"Considering that the clients are using over 200 wireless intercoms and walkie talkies for the communication at this event, W-DMX worked very well, with no interruption or interference from other cellular networks. It also saved us time for cabling and we could locate the fixtures in remote locations, so we don't have to run over 50 m of DMX cable which would result in delay of the fixtures. The signal was very stable and we really liked the product. The output was impressive and we're looking forward to adding more W-DMX to our rental fleet."

The client, Jurassic Park Entertainment of Japan, was delighted with the results, saying: "The lighting scheme exceeds our expectations by being so dynamic - it gained lots of 'wows' from the patrons. We're very happy with the lighting for the event!"
